Skilled Worker visa eligibility checker

Check a job can sponsor you before you apply.

Most Skilled Worker jobs must pay £41,700 or the going rate for the job’s code. Recent UK students and graduates can qualify at 70% of the going rate, at least £33,400, even after going home. Check a real job against your situation: free, no account needed.

How it works

Five gates, checked for this job and your facts.

Each gate shows its state, the evidence, the official source and the date it was checked. A fact nobody knows stays unknown on the route answer rather than being averaged into a number.

01
Register · UK and Netherlands

Approved sponsor

Is the legal entity on the sponsor register, or only a brand that sounds like one? Near misses come back as suggestions, never as a match.

02
Code · every route

Eligible occupation

Which occupation code would the job be sponsored under, and is that code eligible? Inferred codes stay marked as inferred until the employer confirms.

03
Threshold · your provision

Required salary

Does the advertised pay clear the general threshold and the going rate for that code, at the rate that applies to you rather than to everyone?

04
You · age, degree, route history

Candidate provision

Does the UK new-entrant rate apply (under 26, or recent UK study), or the Dutch under-30 or recent-graduate amount? Your facts, not a population average.

05
Separate · always

Employer willingness

A licence proves an employer can sponsor. Whether it will sponsor this role is a different question, answered from the vacancy text and its history.

Everything you need to decide, and nothing that sells you.

No apply button, and no score on the visa answer. The career match is scored, because wanting a job is a preference; the route is not.

01Four honest statusesLikely compatible, needs confirmation, likely incompatible, not enough information. The route answer is never a percentage.
02Editable assumptionsCorrect the salary, the entity or the code and the verdict recalculates in front of you.
03Recruiter questionsGenerated from the unknowns, so every answer maps straight onto a gate. Copy them or open them in an email.
04Sponsor checkerSearch the real Home Office register by employer name and see every route an employer can sponsor on, and whether its licence is A or B rated.
05Salary and cost calculatorThe pay a vacancy must show for you, and what sponsoring you costs each side, from GOV.UK.
06Share a redacted auditA link that carries the audit and the job facts, not your age, dates or route history. Send it to a careers adviser.
07A career match out of 100Role, level, location, pay and how recently it was posted, weighted and shown as five rows that add up. It answers whether the job is worth wanting, never whether the route works.
Questions

What JLocate is, and what it is not.

What is JLocate?

A free check you run on a UK job before you apply. It tests five things: whether the employer holds a sponsor licence, whether the occupation code is eligible, whether the salary clears £41,700 or the going rate for the code, whichever is higher, whether the new-entrant rate applies to you, and what the ad says about sponsorship.

Who is it for?

People who studied in the UK and want to work there: final-year students, Graduate visa holders, and graduates who went home and want to come back while their two-year new-entrant window is open. Students finishing in 2026 should read about the Graduate route falling to 18 months. It also covers simplified routes for the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia and Singapore.

Is JLocate a job board?

No. Paste a vacancy from any job site, or its address, and the checks run on that job, with the employer looked up on a copy of the real Home Office register, the one the sponsor licence checker searches. The worked examples on this page use fictional employers and are labelled as examples.

Where do the thresholds come from?

From GOV.UK: the £41,700 general threshold, the new-entrant rate of 70% of the going rate with a £33,400 floor, and the going-rates table updated on 22 July 2025. Every eligible occupation code and its rate is listed as the Immigration Rules print it, and the Sources page links each figure to its page with the date it was checked.

What happens to my data?

Without an account, nothing leaves your browser. With a free account, your profile, pasted jobs and saved roles are kept on JLocate’s own server so they follow you between devices, and you can download or delete them at any time. The privacy page says exactly what is stored where.

Is this legal advice?

No. It helps you decide which applications are worth your time. Before you rely on a result for your own case, check it with an adviser regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority, or with a solicitor.

Who it’s for

You have a deadline, not a lawyer.

Built for people who studied in the UK and want to work there: final-year students, Graduate visa holders, and graduates who went home and want to come back. Also for anyone weighing the Netherlands, Germany or Ireland.

Three questions we answer
01Can this employer sponsor me at all?
02Does this salary clear the threshold that applies to me?
03What do I ask before I spend a week on the application?
